Highlights from day two at APEX EXPO 2017

The second day saw more exciting announcements from Long Beach, California, plenty of in-depth talks and industry interviews.

Right off the block, Inmarsat announced the exciting news that Air Asia Group had selected its next-generation GX Aviation inflight broadband solution for more than 120 of its aircraft.

The landmark contract includes all existing and future Airbus A320 and A330 aircraft operated by Air Asia Group, including Air Asia X, its long-haul operator.

And here’s why…

It piqued the interest of the aviation press too.

In other news, SITAONAIR became the first Inmarsat Value Added Reseller to activate GX Aviation high-speed broadband on commercial aircraft in Asia. It was announced that SITONAIR plans to roll out GX Aviation on the remainder of Singapore Airlines’ 777-300ER aircraft and other fleet type, continuing the five year partnership between the airline and SITAONAIR.

Discussion about inflight Wi-Fi was high on the agenda again, following yesterday’s news that inflight broadband has the potential to create a $130bn global market within the next 20 years, resulting in $30bn of ancillary revenue for airlines by 2035. The findings were the result of a groundbreaking study conducted by the London School of Economics.

And here’s what passengers have to say about using Wi-Fi in the air.

Check out the rather lovely Inmarsat APEX stand. If you haven’t popped by to see it yet, then please do. A fascinating, interactive experience awaits…
